I started teaching in the summer of 1999, two months after graduating high school. Since then, I have taught English as an additional language in many capacities: as a tutor, TOEFL/IELTS trainer, business English corporate teacher, intensive English for academic purposes university instructor. Over the years, I have developed curricula, teaching materials, teacher manuals, digital resources, and online learning modules in all levels of English from the true beginner to highly advanced. I worked in Russia, South Korea and Canada. I have also taught Spanish and Russian as a foreign language and continue to provide consulting services to my colleagues all over the world.
After completing my graduate degree in Saint Petersburg, Russia I spent seven years as a Senior Lecturer at Herzen State Pedagogical University. I taught various aspects of English and Spanish languages, Introduction to American Literature, Methods of English Language Instruction and Introduction to Cultural Linguistics to undergraduate students.
Currently, I work as a Sessional Instructor at the Department of Language and Literacy Education, University of British Columbia. As an instructor for BEd program, I have taught Applied Linguistics for Teachers. At UBC-Ritsumeikan Academic Exchange Programs, I’ve taught undergraduate courses: Introduction to Global Citizenship, Field Research in Social Processes of Inclusion and Exclusion, Introduction to Language Communities and Variation in Language Practices. I was a teaching assistant for: Introduction to the Nature of World Englishes and Introduction to Language Communities and Variation in Language Practices.
